Demonic Resurrection is a symphonic metal band based out of Mumbai India. Founding in 2000 by Demonstealer, the band is one of India’s longest running metal bands. Starting out as bunch of 17-year-olds looking to give India a taste of extreme metal, then a nearly untouched genre, the band, released their first album Demonstealer within nine months of formation. It was an amateurish first attempt but a bold step in a scene dominated by tribute and cover bands that got Demonic Resurrection noticed. Over the last 25 years the band has built a solid reputation and fan following with 5 solid albums and 2 EPs under their belt. In 2010 they won the Metal Hammer Golden God award for ‘Global Metal’. They were signed and released 2 albums with Candlelight Records UK. The band also made it to the cover of Rolling Stone India in 2014. The band has played festivals around Europe and the UK like Wacken, Sonisphere, Inferno Metal Festival, Metaldays, Brutal Assault and Bloodstock Open air. In 2017 they released their critically acclaimed album ‘Dashavatar’ which created waves globally for the band. They celebrated 25 years in 2025 by embarking on a 26 show run of the EU and UK supporting Bloodywood.
It’s been a long and sometimes arduous 25-year journey for the band – a story of struggle, brickbats, bottles, adulation and acceptance but most of all of incredible amounts hard work, determination and perseverance – and even naysayers will be hard-put to argue that DR are one of the most important bands to have come out of the Indian music scene. But yet, for Demonic Resurrection, the journey is only beginning…
