From Australia, atmospheric black metal band SOMNIUM NOX conjure up their full length and it’s out of this world. ‘Terra Inanis’ has three monolithic tracks that segue into one another, each creating a wonderful and consistent atmosphere that will have you rivetted with goosebumps all over. Didgeridoos set the atmosphere from the start and the music, backed by the able drumming of a NORSE member, takes off into uncharted territories. From then on it’s an oscillating trip between different states of consciousness, fuelled by music that seems to have transcendental qualities. This is atmospheric black metal that is deeper than most and stirs up emotions that were thought to be nonexistent. An exceptional and I daresay a subliminal album, ‘Terra Inanis’ causes an emotive purge, a deep cleansing by evoking the sounds of nature and ancient culture.
