Unleashing their album ‘The Exile’ this past March via Test Your Metal Records, Hickory, NC based RAPHEUMETS WELL have a new music video to wow fans with a visual world of their sci-fi/ fantasy inspired metal and concept story album. The video“Crucible of Titans”is just once piece of the story line as drummer Joshua Ward explains: “In our song ‘Crucible of Titans’, Darmak is confronted by an Okvier named Sen, an inter-dimensional being who offers help to Darmak as Sotath’s plan was illusive even to the celestial counsel. Darmak is asked to spy on the traitor in hopes of revealing his agenda. Things go very wrong. Being ratted out by a family friend, Darmak is forced to look on as his family is executed. Darmak is sent to the realm between realms, away from the eyes of celestial order. The demonic servants of Sotath bind a rare artifact to his bones which will forbid him to die. They tear his skin from his bones only to have his organs regenerate and repeat. Having his flesh skin torn multiple times each day and left to ruminate on his families execution, he is cursed to walked the desert of the Nastar (lost realm) until his spirit literally fragments and he ceases to exist. This is the crucible of titans and why we chose to do this video. We actually shot and produced our own video due to budget constraints, but we worked extremely hard and we hope everyone enjoys the work and creativity of the story.”
Along with Swedish black metallers Seedna on the label, SwampCult are a band that explore beyond the ordinary, in their case, to create a form of dark, doom metal music laden with a gripping atmosphere. A sense of eeriness pervades the entire recording that’s based on the H.P. Lovecraft story ‘The Festival’. The full length album is expected to drop around July-August this year. Watch out for this very ambitious release.
Transcending Obscurity owner Kunal Choksi states, “I’ve always been intrigued about H.P. Lovecraft inspired bands and it was just my luck that I came across an email from SwampCult. Forget being influenced, SwampCult have conceptualized their entire album around the H.P. Lovecraft book titled ‘The Festival’. That’s exactly what their upcoming album on Transcending Obscurity International Distribution is called. I just hope to do justice to their excellent dedication to the art and attention to detail, in all aspects. There will be special story cards given out with this release, each having a different artwork and message to go with it. Watch out for this one. H.P. Lovecraft fans rejoice.”
SwampCult adds, “‘The Festival’ is a soundtrack to one of H.P. Lovecraft’s masterpieces, the short story by the same name. It will transcend your normal frame of mind on music and drag you into the sinister atmosphere that is so typical of this master of horror. We believe we have found a proper match with Transcending Obscurity. Kunal has shown to truly appreciate and understand what we want to achieve with this album and we embrace the chance to be in league with him on this glorious ride into madness.
The album will come with a very special set of ‘story cards’, one for each chapter aka song on the album. Here’s the first one –
‘The Festival’ track list – 1. Chapter I – The Village 2. Chapter II – The Old Man 3. Chapter III – Al-Azif Necronomicon 4. Chapter IV – Procession 5. Chapter V – The Rite 6. Chapter VI – The Flight 7. Chapter VII – The Dawning 8. Chapter VIII – The Madness 9. IX Epilogue – Betwixt Dream and Insanity
Terrific Kansas City, US based death metal band Marasmus will be releasing their new full length album through Transcending Obscurity International Distribution. The band’s brand of death metal is absolutely lethal, unrelenting and pushes forward the sound of the genre without diluting the original essence. This is for the fans of old school-rooted death metal as well as those who’re looking for that added extremity and speed in their music. Marasmus take no prisoners, and are bound to spread their reach around the world with this deal.
Transcending Obscurity owner Kunal Choksi says, “Marasmus‘ music just blew me away. I came to know of them honestly from my writer Chris Dahlberg, who had rated their release ‘excellent’ in his review, and when I checked out their music for myself, it was indeed that. Such death metal bands are very hard to come by and considering that they weren’t signed, I wasted no time in contacting them and expressed my interest in working with them. Marasmus‘ new album will be released through Transcending Obscurity International Distribution, and all efforts will be made to ensure that their music is superbly distributed and promoted, along with the TO label stamp, around the world.”
Marasmus vocalist and co-founder Devon Ferrara says “Marasmus has been waiting for a label like Transcending Obscurity to help spread our music. We have been working for years practicing our craft to show the metal community what we have. Kunal and Marasmus seem to have parallel minds in what our band needs and we feel this is going to be a great business partnership. Given that we are both very driven entities, Marasmus and Transcending Obscurity are a match forged in the underworld.”
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Avulsed, the veteran Spanish death metal band decided to commit a very ambitious project which is no other than recording a double album including 18 of their best songs from all their albums, EPs and demos. Instead of just doing a dull compilation with original songs, the band wants to do a “no fillers, just killers” release showing the evolution that the songs have suffered during all these years where the band’s sound has been getting heavier and songs have got slight mutations through the times.
This double album (with a running time of 80 minutes) will be released in a deluxe double CD digipack with slipcase and a thick 40-page booklet containing the original versions on disc number 2 (just for the freaks who hate re-recordings), double gatefold 12″ LP and double cassette with slipcase!! But to make this release even more interesting, Avulsed will have very special guests from other bands singing in most of the songs. They are: Piotr Wiwczarek (Vader), Mark “Barney” Greenway (Napalm Death), Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates), Sven de Caluwé (Aborted), Antti Boman (Demilich), Chris Reifert (Autopsy), Per Böder (God Macabre), Anton Reisenegger (Pentagram Chile), Kam Lee (ex-Massacre), Rogga Johansson (Paganizer), Mike Van Mastrigt (ex-Sinister), Ville Koskela (Purtenance), Will Rahmer (Mortician), Ludo (Supuration), Johan Jansson (Interment), and last but not least, Paul Zavaleta (Deteriorot). A total of 16 singers in 16 of the songs!!
Checkout their song called “To Sacrifice and Devour” from their latest EP “Altars Of Disembowelment” via Xtreem Music:
Title for this album will be ‘Deathgeneration’, since 25 years means a whole generation devoted to death metal, and cover artwork will be made, once again, by the awesome Juanjo Castellano who worked on the two latest Avulsed releases. The set will be released in the fall, right before the two very special 25th anniversary shows that Avulsed will offer in Madrid (November 19) and Barcelona (November 26). Support bands for the show in Madrid will be another Spanish death metal legend Aposento and newcomers Bizarre who will also open on the Barcelona show accompanied by another band which is confirmed, but cannot be announced yet. An official live CD and DVD will be recorded and filmed in Madrid.
‘Deathgeneration’ will come in a very limited black boxset with silver foiled logo, of which only 100 copies will be made containing the 2-CD, 2-LP and 2-MC. This special cassette release can only be obtained on this boxset that will come with T-shirt, poster, signed photo card, sticker, patch, badge, guitar pick and other goodies. The 2-CD, 2-LP and T-shirt can be obtained separately or in bundles too. For this ambitious (and expensive) project, Avulsed will need the inestimable collaboration of its fans for which the band will release a crowfunding campaign during the next months.
Recording sessions for ‘Deathgeneration’ started on March 24, with drums being recorded at Cadillac Blood Studios with Andy C. (Lord of Black, Saratoga, Kaothic) on production and rest of stuff being recorded at La Casa del Ruido Studios with Daniel Blanco engineering for a later mixing at Overhead Studios by Raul Fournier “Furni” and final mastering again at Unisound Studios by Swedish mastermind Dan Swanö. All this process, including each guest vocalist’s contributions, will be a hard process (just imagine, it’s a double album!), that will take the next three months for which the band has slowed down its live activities.
After playing two shows in Spain in April (Burgos and Oviedo), Avulsed will return to the road in June with a tour in China, followed by a series of great festivals during summer in Germany (Protzen Open Air), Czech Republic (Obscene Extreme and Czech Deathfest) and two of Spain’s biggest festivals (Leyendas and Resurrection) as well as a tour in South America during September.

Transcending Obscurity owner Kunal Choksi comments, “I was thoroughly impressed by the passion and drive of the band members. Everything that was originally planned ambitiously was not only achieved in time, which in itself is quite a feat, but it proved to be even better than my expectations. I have high hopes from this band and it’s my pleasure to work with a professional and motivated band like Godless. They should be a powerful force live.”
Godless member Abbas Razvi adds, “I’ve known Kunal since the Diabolical Conquest days and have always appreciated the effort he puts into his work. Now, with Godless on the verge of releasing our debut EP, I can think of no better label to work with than Transcending Obscurity. We’re excited about the release and this collaboration with TO.”

The success of Third Sovereign‘s latest album titled ‘Perversion Swallowing Sanity’ released on Transcending Obscurity India (sub-label) has been well-documented – no other death metal band in the history of the country perhaps has received such fanfare in recent times. It was hailed all over the world, even in the press, and the music ultimately reached the ears of Spain-based label The Horror Dimension’s owner, who sought for a licensed version of the album for further propagation in Europe. This is the first such tie-up for a Transcending Obscurity India release, aimed at furthering the scope of music released here in other parts of the world. Watch out for a European version of the Third Sovereign release coming out very soon by The Horror Dimension.
Long-running US death/thrash/black metal band Sathanas are committed to release a full length album under Transcending Obscurity Records. Since 1988 the band have been around, churning out one vicious album after the other, achieving a cult status over the years, or decades. The band’s vocalist/guitarist Paul Tucker is stoked about the new release which should see the light of day late in 2016.
Transcending Obscurity Records owner Kunal Choksi says, “Sathanas are pure old school metal warriors. They’ve been at it for years, honing their craft, and I feel they deserve a lot more. Paul has been in touch with me for long and I’m very happy to finally get a chance to work with this excellent band. Their passion remains undiminished every after decades and their steely and mighty death/thrash/black sound is unparalleled.”
Sathanas vocalist/guitarist Paul Tucker states, “We are looking forward to working with Kunal and Transcending Obscurity. We are hearing positive feedback from all bands and people in the music field that Kunal is dedicated to his bands and believes promotion is key along side a great release. Sathanas have been on some good labels over the years but we were always lacking in the promotion side of it. With Kunal’s drive and persistence, we feel Sathanas will get the recognition we deserve.”
After Greek death/crust band Abyssus‘ ‘Once Entombed’ release earlier this year, the second release on the sub-label Transcending Obscurity Classics is of the US death/thrash metal band Deceased‘s much-acclaimed and frankly unforgettable zombie-themed album ‘Fearless Undead Machines’. Originally released by Relapse Records almost two decades earlier, the album will be given a reissue treatment and has a new T-shirt artwork by Mark Riddick to go with it – this, while the original album artwork and sound will remain untouched to preserve the classic sound. The band insisted on it. This is the first out of the three Deceased reissues that will come out on the new sub-label based in India.
Transcending Obscurity owner/editor says about the deal, “It’s a dream come true to work with one of my favourite bands, especially to reissue the classic albums that I grew up listening to. ‘Fearless Undead Machines’ was one of the first CDs that I’d purchased in the late ’90s and till this date it remains not only my favourite Deceased album, but also one of my favourite metal albums overall. King’s a legend, an honest man, and his support in this endeavour, to reissue not one but three of his classics, means a lot. While the original artwork will be kept intact, Mark Riddick has made a specially commissioned T-shirt artwork to go with this epic release.”
Deceased‘s vocalist/drummer King Fowley adds, “We are happy to be rocking with Kunal. He seems a good Joe who works hard and that’s very important to me. We’re gonna spread cadaver fun the world over. Keep an eye out!!! We’re gonna re-release at least 3 titles from our past with Kunal/Transcending Obscurity Classics and let others that missed the death metal from the grave stench first go round get a shot to whiff it all up.”
